Guest designer!

One of my favourite Blogs/Shop is Papermaze and they let you apply to guest design for their Saturday Sketch. Wendy sends you a sketch by email and you send back a photo of your take on that sketch.
This week is my turn to be featured as the guest designer and here is the sketch I was sent. I liked it immediately as it had butterflies featured on it (never mind about the rest of the sketch).

Here is my page, as you can see I turned it to fit the photo I wanted to use and the other three photo's were changed to patterned paper squares. The paper I used was from Scenic Route Laurel and can be found HERE.

Lots of stitching was used as I haven't got my sewing machine out in a long while so I went a bit mad with it, as you can see here on the title and journaling.

I love this butterfly stamp from Inkadinkado but I wanted to do something different so I stamped over the photo and then stamped some of the butterflies on acetate and adhered them to the page with brads.
Why not have a go at the sketch as well and play along with the Papermaze bloggers you can find details HERE.

Baby card.

I haven't had much time lately for scrapping but sometimes life just goes that way. I had some lovely news today though, my cousin Helen had her first baby on Saturday and as you can probably tell from the card it was a girl.
It was a quick card using a stamped image, Promarkers and paper from my leftovers box but I wanted to get it out in the post tomorrow so I didn't faff about with it too much like I would normally do.
Hopefully I will get to do some scrapping soon but until then happy blogging.

Just for me.

I have done a double page layout that was not part of a challenge !!!!
I wanted to do a double as I have lots of photo's that need scrapping together and although I prefer to do single page layouts I want to use the photo's up that I have already got printed out before getting some more done.
I might even try to double up the single sketches I need to do for various challenges, therefore killing two birds with one stone (I always feel sorry for the two birds!!)

Here is my layout, I was really pleased with how the flowers turned out - they were made using the nestabilities dies - Blossom and the bottom border was using my new deep edge punch from Martha Stewart called Daisy Fan. The pattered paper is some old cardstock from DCWV.

Saturday Sketches.

Another Saturday sketch over at the Papermaze blog but this one is one that I wouldn't normally choose to do as it's not my style. Sketches though, I reminded myself are just the springboard and you can make it your own with a little imagination.
So I challenged myself to complete a layout using this sketch just to see what I would come up with.

I surprised myself at how much I liked my page when it was finished, I am really into "white space" at the moment, so I shrank the sketch and was much happier working with the smaller size.

I also had a go at the spiral flowers ( I must be the last person to ever make these) they were so easy yet so effective. Definitely be making more of them.

and here is a close up of the little heart in the middle.
Not had a go at the Saturday Sketches yet? Go on, challenge yourself on the sketches that you would normally pass on and you may surprise yourself how adaptable you are too.

Bradfield Craft Club

I love meeting up with my crafty friends on Monday nights, I get to see all their fab creations and there is always some crafty tips to be had or information about a great place to find stash! Last night was no exception with ladies bringing in things to share with the group and I was shown how to make a heart template using just a circle and a ruler! Fab!

Below are the pages and cards that were done for the sketch challenges I set a couple of weeks ago, in addition to the sketch a quote or verse had to be used.

The page sketch was from Banana Frog Blog , always a great place for inspiration if you love stamping.

This is my page.

Life Lesson

The challenge this week over at A True Friend blog is to scrap a life lesson ( or lessons ) that your pet has taught you. It could be that you have learnt that "home is where the pet hair is" or that "a cat is a couch potato companion"!
What ever wisdom you have learnt from your pet why not scrap it and share it with us at ATF we would love to take a peek.

Here is my life lesson courtesy of my cats Bramble and Tammy - it reads " If you have more than one cat your lap will never be big enough!" Mine was the only lap these two would sit on so it was a case of first come, first got the most lap.

Thanks for stopping by.
