& Relax

Dashing in (as usual!) to share a layout I have up on the Like Forever Blog today.
Nicola, the owner of this fabulous kit club runs challenges on Sundays and this weeks one that I have created for is to add a household item to your page, PL or planner.
All the stash used on this page came from the Like Forever Kit 'Live Out Loud'.

I really wanted to use the circle wood veneer embellishment and decided to cut it in half for a different effect. I also painted it with blue acrylic paint to match in with the colours in the papers. Once it was all dry I gathered my photo, kit and my two household items together and had a play!
The photo is of one of our cats enjoying the Spring sunshine. I’m lucky that he’s a poser and quite happy to have a camera pointed at him, unlike our other two cats!

I backed some of the apertures with paper and the one’s  I left empty, I placed embellishments inside instead. This one has a little card from the Elle’s Studio Bit and Pieces pack, some clear sequins and a cute star made from some paper scraps.

This aperture has a die cut heart and button from the kit and a punched vellum circle.

I used the wooden ampersand from the Fancy Free Wood Veneer pack as part of my title and the word ‘relax’ was made from the beautiful glitter Thickers in the kit. I added some more little stars to accompany the title.

This photo shows the safety pin that I used as one of my household items. It is very small so it was a bit tricky to get through the die cut (helps if the die cut is not glued to the page first!).

Using a paper straw as one of my household items was my first thought when given this challenge. I have a few different colours of straws in my stash (I mean in my house!) so I picked the colour that matched the papers. As the photo was partly on the wooden circle and therefore raised from the page I used the straw to support the other edge of the photo as well as an embellishment. The length of twine is simply threaded through the straw and tied off into a bow.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Sunday.

Friendly Challenge - Mood Board.

Who likes to create with mood boards?
They can be a bit daunting sometimes especially if you have never worked with them before as was the case with my friend Helen.
When I set my friendly challenge for last month I created a mood board that I tried to make user friendly for Helen so as not to intimidate her too much. But I needn't have worried she did a grand job of interpreting it.
Also this month Helen and I have been joined by the lovely Wendy, who lives on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean but loves a scrappy challenge too!

Let's get this reveal rolling then....

Here is the mood board I put together (notice I snuck a cat in there!).

Here is my take on the challenge.
I went with the colour selection, the chevron (not forgetting the cat!) and a title based around the quote.

One way to use up the Z's!

Just a couple of close up's.

Now onto Helen's layout, which she increased to a double due to all the cute sleepy puss photo's!

A fab cluster of hand made embellies.

Helen used a mixture of fonts and lettering for her title and used the quote from the mood board.

Love the pretty doilies across the layout.
Helen is the person I got the fussy cutting bug from!

One last close-up.

Wendy's layout stars her hubby enjoying a cocktail by the pool (wish I was there!).
I love that Wendy's pages are always so fun and she loves her bold colours.

Simple embellishing for a layout about the man in her life, although I spotted the floral paper tucked in there!

Cute die-cut title says it all!

Well that's all folks!
Hope you enjoyed seeing our challenge layouts and for this month the challenge is to use a patterned paper background. Something I rarely do these days!

Thanks for stopping by.

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend?

Hello and welcome to my poor neglected blog!
Popping in to share my layout created for The Studio Challenges Diamonds Challenge which started today. Show diamonds on your page any way, any how.
I decided to go with a quote for my title with the word 'diamond' in it and to use some diamond rub-on's.

Here is my page and shows photo's of a 25 year old me with my dogs Buster and Tara.

I created the title with several colours and sizes of lettering.

My pages would not be complete without some flowers somewhere!

I couldn't resist adding this die cut card because when you have dogs their love is unconditional!

Hope you can find time to play along with us at The Studio Challenges this month starting with this 'gem' of a challenge!

Thanks for stopping by.

Sketch Challenge over at The Studio Challenges.

The start of a new month of challenges over at The Studio Challenges blog today and we start the ball rolling with this cute sketch.

I started my layout with a background of banners that I cut with my Silhouette then backed with some gold glitter paper.

For my title I used a PL card and Ephemera from the MME On Trend 2 line that was part of my Like Forever Kit this month.

I also added some splodges with ink in a couple of places and place some of the elements of the sketch over the top.

More ephemera in the bottom corner.

The wooden words on my page were painted white and topped with 3D paint in subtle colours to compliment the layout colours.

I hope you will join us at The Studio Challenges this month and have fun using the sketch.

Friendly Challenge - Tic Tac Toe

Hi everyone, I am sharing another friendly challenge today between myself and my dear scrappy friend Helen.
The challenge (set by yours truly) was the Tic Tac Toe challenge below.

Here is my page and I chose the left hand column (sequin's, two photo's and stitching).
The two photo's are from when I attended a celebration evening for those of us who had received a long service award from Tesco.

Here is how many years I have worked at the same store!

Using this month's Like Forever kit for everything on my page except the sequins.

I attached the sequins with my stitching element of the challenge.

Some extra stitching to add interest at the bottom corner.

Here we have Helen's take on the challenge and she has used the bottom row of stitching, pink and grey and doily. The beautiful pink and grey papers are a stack from Hobby Craft.

You can see a doily pocking out from the side of the gorgeous photo of one of Helen's kitty cats wearing a bracelet Her daughter had just finished making.

These stitched hearts really have to be seen to appreciated, just devine!

Well, another month and another challenge under our belt!
Our next challenge is this mood board I put together for us.

Thank you for dropping by.

Sweet Peas.

I'm a tad late in posting the latest reveal over at The Studio Challenges which has a Spring inspired theme - scrap with flowers!
As Spring is in the air (in the UK anyway!) we would like to see flowers on your pages. Lots, little or somewhere in between!

For my layout I chose to scrap about my sweet peas. As my plant is a perennial variety I have them bloom year after year in beautiful pink hues.
The paper I found to use as a backdrop to my photo was a sheet I've had for years, I was obviously waiting for this perfect photo!

I was doing well on scrap busting, this cute butterfly has also been in my stash for more years than I can remember!

I dressed up this wooden tag - a roller stamp with the perfect quote, a little length of twine and coloured the end pink with Sharpie.

This challenge runs until the 10th April so even though I am late sharing there is still time to pretty up those pages with flowers and join in with us at The Studio Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by.

And here is my take on the sketch using the 'Little Things' kit from Like Forever Kit club.

A close up of the cluster.

Love the acrylic ephemera in the kit.

Hero's at The Studio Challenges.

Today's challenge reveal at The Studio Challenges is to create a layout featuring your Hero/s or the hero of a family member.

I knew I had to scrap this photo of the two hero's in my life my husband and my father. They were enjoying a silly moment together on Christmas Day. Unfortunately my father passed away suddenly last month so scrapping this photo meant a lot to me.

I played around with the quote 'a dog is for life not just for Christmas' and rewrote it to fit in with this photo and the challenge.

I used part of a star cut file that I had designed and backed a random few with patterned papers.

As the stars added a lot of interest around the background I decided to keep the embellishing to just the bottom corner of the photo.

I hope you can join in with our challenges this month. The Studio Challenges have this Hero's challenge and a sketch challenge that are both open until 13th March. Plenty of time to get your page linked up.
To see the rest of the DT's pages hop on over to the TSC Blog HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
