Keeping it in the Family Part 3.

Do you remember my cousin Jan gave my mum and me some scrapbook papers (she had three sheets of each nine double sided papers) and we have been having little challenges amongst ourselves.

You can see part one of the challenge HERE.
You can see part two of the challenge HERE.

and now for part three......

These are both sides of the papers this time. We kept it easy and could scrap how ever we liked with no additional rules.

Ginger's Shadow by me.

Here is what I did with the papers. Working with the colours in my top photo I chose to scrap without using the sewing pattern sides of the papers.

To produce the shadow effect on the word 'shadow' in my title I used two of the same letter stickers (BasicGrey) but re-coloured one set black and placed the un-coloured set on top but off to the side, then placed them on my page.

Some punched shapes, stamping and my favourite embellishment (at the moment) sequins, grouped around a printout of the May calendar.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Stitched by Jan.

Here is Jan's sewing inspired layout and as you can see she used the haberdashery pattern side of one the papers. Loving the different fonts Jan used for her title.

I think Jan wins the prize for the most buttons used (if there was a prize!) and check out the cute wooden sewing machine.

A jar full of buttons and a dressmakers dummy that has been dressed with lace.

Fun in the Sun by Joan (my mum).x

Here is my mum's 1st layout (yes she made me feel inadequate by making two pages with the papers!). A summer page about her granddaughters playing together with a hose pipe.

Another contender for the button stash bashing along with some lovely ripped papers.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Play by Mum (page 2).

With not a lot of the original pattern paper left to play with mum has added some bright die-cuts and punched borders to make her second summery layout.

Just a quick close up of the borders and die-cut.

Well done for reaching the end of my little tour of our challenge and hope you enjoyed seeing the four different layouts.

I'm sure my cousin would love you to visit her blog, called 'Jan's Arty Junk', where you can catch up with what she is up to in her part of the country. HERE IS THE LINK.

Thank you for dropping in.
Have a great week. xx

Sleeping Cutie.

Hello everyone, today I have a layout up on the Scrap Our Stash Blog which is from the sketch posted on 15th August.

Here is the sketch which also has the additional rule - you must include at least one game card and/or game piece on your page.

Here is the page I made for the challenge, it features our cat Ginger who is seriously cute when he is asleep because he lays on his back with his feet in the air!
The cat paper is from Pebbles and I have used some self adhesive mesh across the bottom half instead of paper for a change!

I had been hoarding this bingo card for something 'perfect' and decided that it belonged with this layout!

I made the pie chart from scraps of paper and stuck Ginger's initial in the middle of a big brad.

I don't have a paw print stamp so I used one that looked a bit like messy spots and added them going across the page.

Don't you love the printed little strips at the bottom of some manufacturers papers that co-ordinate with the paper line? Like the strip I got to use from the Pebbles paper which features a line of cute cats heads. I always feel like I've have got a little extra from the papers even though it's just the barcode strip!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my take on the sketch and for more information about this challenge and the summer challenge that was set at the beginning of the month just visit the Scrap Our Stash blog HERE. Of course there is all the inspiration from the rest of the DT and details of the prize that is up for grabs too.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend especially if you are in the UK as we have a Bank Holiday tomorrow, so a nice long weekend!
Bye for now. xx

Friendly Challenge - Stitching.

Happy Friday to all you lovely people out there and welcome to my little blog.

Today I have another friendly challenge to share with you, staring my dear friend Helen and myself.
Those of you who have visited for a while know the story by now but for all my new followers this is a challenge that my friend and I set each other about once a month. Then we meet up at Helen's place for chat, scrapping, eating and sharing our challenge creations with each other.

This month's challenge was to create a page using stitching templates as we both had some really old ones that hadn't seen the light of day for a while!

The Cutest Beach Bum by Kerry (that's me!).

Here is my page and I had this photo of my youngest daughter from several years ago that I wanted to scrap so I started off putting a wash of paint for my background.
The sun was not from a template ('cheat' I hear you shout!!!) but I needed a large sun so that I could place my journaling inside (and Helen let me off!).

After securing my photo and the papers under it I started sewing with a patterned template that I thought resembled waves using blue thread that had an ombre effect (light to dark and then back to light again).

Lots of little embellies and paper shapes tucked behind the photo and 'dew drops' for a watery feel!

That Puppy Face by Helen (that's my friend!)

This is Helen's page and it must be youngest daughter day as these photo's are of her youngest too. (Helens daughter is being a bit more lady like than mine).
What a cute puppy face though and check out those curls aren't they just adorable?
Helens page features some pretty swirl templates sewn in blue that match her hand made flowers!

A closer look at Helens crochet flowers that she has recently learnt to make! Are they super sweet or what? I thought I would share the link that she has passed on to me for the video tutorial to make these flowers for yourself.  CLICK HERE.
I must get my hooks out this weekend and give it a go too.

I didn't know if you noticed my favourite template that Helen used, these really cool chevrons! (by Bazzil), I don't think you can buy it anymore so I may have to borrow it!!

I hope you enjoyed our layouts and our next challenge to each other is to make a page with predominately yellow paper/embellishments, a colour we both confess we like but don't scrap much.

I will be back soon with some pages made for a family challenge.
Until then enjoy your weekend. xx

Love Everyday.

Hi and welcome to my crafty haven. I hope you have had a great week and found plenty of time for your crafty endeavours.
I found a couple of hours to play and thought I would craft for myself instead of DT requirements and found a great challenge over at Scrap the Girls blog. Here is the recipe they have set.....

  • flowers
  • masking
  • doodling and
  • chipboard or wood veneers
  •

Here is my entry for the challenge, a rare page with me in the photo taken last year (I'm the old one, LOL!). I have doodled a border around the page, something I usually do but I added some hearts to be a little different (which you might have to click on to see). The papers are American Crafts and Scenic Route.

I looked through my masks and found a butterfly one (it is actually an old birthday card with four butterflies die cut across the front!), I had some left over homemade texture paste and added three different colour glitters on top whilst it was still wet.

Here is the outcome of my playtime!

The flowers were just punched and the leaves were cut from the papers.

I added some wood veneer chevrons at the top of the photo and this little heart one tied with twine around the photo.

All the details for this challenge can be found HERE on the Scrap the Girls Blog.

    Thanks for stopping by. xx

    Sketch-N-Scrap #39 Sketch Challenge.

I have another challenge reveal for you today and this one is the second sketch for August from the Sketch-N-Scrap blog.

This is Kelly Holifield's fab design.

Here is my take on the sketch and as you can see apart from using it mirror image I stuck to the sketch design. The top photo would have had my daughter looking out of the page if I had placed the photo on the other side and it didn't look right, hence the change around.

I had a birthday card with lots of these butterfly images on so I punched around them to use as embellishments on my pages. I love it when you can recycle old cards.

What! No glitter on my title letters, what was I thinking!

I have had these sweet little flowers in my stash for years and years and have decided it's high time to use them (well, one anyway, don't rush me!).

Now I KNOW you are nearly finished the sketch challenge #38, so make sure you check out the rest of the design teams takes on #39 to get your inspiration and help you get started. I expect to see lots of gorgeous layouts from all of you!! (no exceptions).

Here are the links to make it easy for you.............

    1st August sketch #38   HERE

    15th August sketch #39    HERE

Don't forget, (all those crafters with time on their hands) there are also the card sketches on the 5th and 20th of the month at Sketch N Scrap. HERE is the link to the card sketch from the 5th August.

Looking forward to seeing your crafty creations.

Back soon with another page (I promise it will have glitter on it!).

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments, I do appreciate every single one.

You make my day by visiting me so let me know if you have popped by. Just a quick Hello and I will be able to put a face to the stats, I can find out how many visitors I have had but not who. So I would dearly love to know who you are so I can visit you back and say Hi to you too. xx

Summertime Challenge at Scrap Our Stash.

Just back from my holiday and the sun is shining in England too, so I am embracing the theme for this month at Scrap Our Stash......

                                                   Create a SUMMER THEMED LAYOUT
    AND
you MUST include (3) or more pre-made Die-Cuts embellishments from you stash!

Here is the layout I created for the challenge featuring my eldest and her friend out shopping for summer fashion!
The papers I used were all from S.E.I. called Vanilla Sunshine.

These flowers were fussy cut from one of the sheets that I really regret not buying two of!

This super cute humming bird was cut from the same sheet as the flowers, it's difficult to see but they are glittered as well (sigh).

For the die-cuts I added a couple of bright journaling ones from My Little Shoebox and three from the same S.E.I line as the papers which you can see clustered in this photo.

As this challenge runs until the 29th August there is still loads of time to create using those summer papers tucked away somewhere in your stash crying out for some of the limelight!!
All the details and to see the other DT members pages hop on over to the SOS blog HERE.

Wishing you a happy sun shiny day. xx

    Sketch N Scrap #38.

The world waits for no one, so whilst I was away sunning myself and relaxing Sketch N Scrap have been busy with a new sketch challenge (and a new card challenge).

Here is this months 1st layout sketch designed by the lovely Lisa.

I have pretty much stuck to the design, I even left the orientation the same!
The page shows my parents showing off their dance skills at their 50th wedding anniversary party.

I love the look of torn edges, it seems to soften the break between the coloured papers.

The flowers were cut from a Nestabilities die and topped with some Basic Grey brads and the papers were from MME.

For all the details of this sketch challenge go to the SNS Blog HERE.

Well  I'm off to tackle some of the ironing produced after our holiday, that way I don't feel too guilty if I get some crafting done later!
Hope you are having a great week so far. xx

    Monday 12 August 2013

    Back Home.

I'm back from my holiday and normal service should hopefully resume here on my little piece of blogland soon!
In the meantime I was looking through my photo's and thought I would share with you some of what I have been up to whilst enjoying the Ibiza hospitality.

Finding scenes like this one at every turn!

Evenings out in a nearby town.

    Exploring smugglers caves!

Taking in the beauty of the old Ibiza.

The girls were a tad more energetic.

    Night time pool party!

I'm sure you will be seeing these and other snapshots in the future as I will be scrapbooking a few of them!!!!
I will be back tomorrow playing catch up with my DT pages that I can now share with you, so until then enjoy any crafting you manage to get done and spare a thought for me and my post holiday washing mountain!
    xx
