Happy To Pose.

Whilst looking around for a last minute sketch I came across this one at Sketches In Thyme and decided it would be perfect for the photo and papers I wanted to use.

Here is my take on the sketch and I apologize for the dull looking photo as we are having a rainy day here in the UK. The photo on the layout is from last year and a trip to the zoo. My middle daughter is usually not a fan of having her photo taken but when her big sister offered to be in it too she graciously let me snap away!

The papers I used are all Teresa Collins Stationery Noted, one of my favourite paper lines! 

The doily takes the place of the big circle in the sketch and I added a couple of butterflies - just because I feel that you can always add a butterfly to a girly page!

These gorgeous big blooms were fussy cut from one of the sheets of paper in the range.

Thirteen.

Hi scrappy friends, I am about to get ready for a creative and fun night with some wonderful crafty ladies and I intend to get plenty of cutting and gluing in. Just hope my mojo is up for the challenge!

Talking of challenges I have another layout to share with you that I made using the January 15th sketch over at Stuck Sketches.

Here is the awesome sketch.

And my take on the challenge. I loved all the layers in the sketch so dug out these co-ordinating papers that were a free download from Sizzix last Valentines. They matched perfectly with the colours of my photo and although they are Valentine papers you can see they can be used on a birthday themed page too.

The banner comes printed with the papers too so I fussy cut it and used it instead of the stitching on the sketch.

My youngest daughter is a big fan of panda's so I printed off this little fella to help with the celebrations!

Instead of a doily I used homemade texture paste to make a small sunburst peaking out from under the layers.

The sketch challenge from Stuck runs until the end of the month so still a few days to play along. Check out the Stuck blog HERE for lots of inspiration.

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you have had a grand weekend!

No scrapping for me but plenty of 'homework' achieved, although I do have a 'here's one I made earlier' layout to share with you today.

As I had plenty of photo's in a group to scrap I went in search of a double page sketch, Stick It Down had a super fun one to play along with.

My two eldest daughters and friends had taken a lot of selfie's last summer at a family fun day in our village. So of course I got a hold of them and got a few printed ready to scrap.

I didn't have the exact photo's indicated in the sketch, I just arranged the ones I had to scrap until I was happy. The large circle in the background I recreated with a pie chart effect and I left off the circle with the title on it.  

Some fussy cut flowers (of course!).

A few quote strips, sequins and more flowers scattered about to create a really girly page!

Stick It Down's sketch challenges run until the end of the month so still a few days to get scrapping and join in.

Friendly Challenge.

I met up with my dear friend Helen last Friday and we shared a day of crafting, chatting and fab food!

If you are a regular to my blog you are used to seeing these little challenges that Helen and I set ourselves and this month's friendly challenge was a sketch chosen by Helen.

Here is the sketch which was designed by the all round talented Rochelle Spears

Here is my interpretation of the sketch using a photo of my little brother and his girlfriend.

The papers are all various American Crafts papers and I fussy cut the flowers for my embellishments.

I splattered some pretty salmon ink onto the background cardstock before adding my photo/papers with a sprinkling of sequins in a lovely light blue.

I stuck almost rigidly to the sketch as you can see, even down to a paper bow that I made from a template.  My first but definitely not my last!

Here is Helen's Spring Disney page with it's adorable papers and gorgeous photo. 

She recently bought a View Master die and couldn't wait to use it, looks great teamed up with a doily!

Helen's Cricut came in handy to create this wonderful embellishment of the two famous ducks!

She also made use of her favorite heart die using washi mounted on card instead of patterned paper. 

I loved these speech bubble paperclips and then Helen told me they were from Ikea! 

Another reason for a trip to my favorite shop soon!

Explore Norwich City.

We all have lots of photo's sitting in boxes, files on the computer that contain many of those captured memories just waiting to be scrapped. 

Well Sketch N Scrap are here today to help you with a multi-photo sketch challenge. Sometimes we just need some inspiration for those photo's that have to be scrapped in a group!

Kelly has designed for us a wonderful sketch that hopefully will be perfect for some of your photo groups.

I haven't used vellum on my pages for a long time and a friend came to the rescue at a crop when I said I would love to use vellum for my circle. These photo's of Norwich were taken when we had a little tour of Norfolk a couple of years ago and were perfect for this sketch.

American Crafts paper fussy cut to make my embellishments, I'm sure you all recognise the line!

So Tempting!

Hellooooo!

Life is a bit of a runaway train for me at the moment with no buffers in sight to slow it down!

I did however start up our local craft club again after our Christmas break and it was so good to get scrapping again. (insert smiley face!).

I actually completed a page and got a long way into a double so luckily my mojo was in attendance too!

The layout I completed was for the current scraplift challenge over at XOXO Scrapbooking. The original layout was created by DT member Wendy.

Here is Wendy's page and I was taken in by the simple design and the bold red background.

Here is my interpretation of Wendy's page and as you can see I changed the number of photo's but kept the rest of the design similar.

These pic's are the first of many 2014 holiday snaps and show me 'pretending' to shove hubby off a mountain side in France, although nobody has seen him since!!

I had all intentions of stitching an embellishment in the top corner to mimic Wendy's design but forgot to take my threads and templates with me to the crop so I improvised and made a cluster of whatever I had with me instead!

January's challenge is open until the end of the month so still plenty of time to join in with XOXO's  scraplift challenge.

Town Hall Party.

The New Year brings a new challenge over at Sketch N Scrap our 'Inspired By' challenge has been replaced with 'Twistback Thursday'!

An oldie but goodie SNS sketch has been teamed up with a new twist.

To start off the challenge Lisa  has chosen this sketch from 2012 and her TWIST: Out with the old and in with the new in 2015: use something old that is a year or more old on your layout as well as something that is new.  

The SNS DT has been split into teams this year and although it was not my turn to create for this challenge I couldn't resist playing along.

This layout has me and hubby at a Christmas party that was held in Colchester Town Hall, such a splendid building with great photo props - I mean statues!! 

There is a great mix of old and new (to me) stash items on my page, these brads were part of a prize I received last Autumn but the grey paper is older than last year.

These wooden people were a perfect little addition to go with my photo's and I went through my scraps box and found the pink journal card and the pink chevron paper strip (the strips that come off the bottom of 12x12 papers - waste not!) The brads you can see in the background are at least five years old!

Now for those of you that are trying to use up your older stash before buying any new this challenge should help with your honorable endeavor by focusing on what you have that is more than a year old! So why not join us in our new challenge for 2015, this runs until the end of January.

Dive Into Summer!

Ok, I know that summer is either a distant memory or a longed for part of this year but I have at last finished my album for our holiday from 2013!! 

Now I can jump into last years summer pictures with a clear conscience! 

The inspiration for this page was taken from the current layout sketch challenge over at Scrapology

and the January 1st inspiration from Pixels and Paper Challenge blog.

This sketch was created from a layout by Laura Vegas. The original layout by Laura can be seen on the Scrapology blog.

This is the picture that Pixels and Paper want you to take inspiration from.

Here is my take on the sketch and I used Heidi Swapp papers. I love the soft colours of this Serendipity line and the fun patterns.

I have a pack of these cute flip flops and couldn't resist putting a pair under the palm tree. The palm tree was made using a borrowed Sizzix die, I cut out the leaves twice and used foam dots to give a bit of dimension.

I wanted to to stitch a sun on the page but when I finished it looked a bit flat so I added a sticker mounted in the center.

Hello!

Hi scrappy friends and welcome back to normality as school re-starts today and routines are being reset! Not sure I like the early starts on cold mornings but Spring will soon be upon us (wishful thinking!) and I have a card to share with you today that reminds me of summer in the garden!

It is Sketch N Scraps first card challenge for the new year and was designed my Kelly Holifileld.

The design of the card certainly reflects the weather in many parts of the world at the moment, although it's not snowed in my corner of the country yet!

Here is my take on the sketch and as you can see I made two colourways in the same design.

The flower image was printed and then coloured in and the strips are washi mounted on card to give them some rigidity.

Cold Day.

A brand New Year and I am excited to get started on the crafty projects I have planned as well as continuing to design for Sketch N Scrap. 

There are some fabulous sketches created by the talented Lisa Hidy and Kelly Holifield coming up for you in the coming months.

I look forward to playing along with you all as I know the fun has just begun!

Lisa kicks off 2015 with this multi photo sketch, perhaps you have some festive pics you can't wait to scrap?

Although my photo's aren't festive they do show us bundled up from the cold on a bitter day visiting a bird sanctuary in Norfolk. I have used the sketch as part of a two-pager and the design was easy to continue over to incorporate more photo's. 

Here is the whole layout, as you can see I continued the pink chevron paper across so that the two pages flowed together.

A closer look at the second page.

As there were lots of black in the photo's I decided to add a few subtle black elements to my design, so there are ink splats, die-cut stems and I used some black/white lettering as part of my title.

I really hope that you have scheduled some crafty time into your New Year plans to play along with us and I imagine this sketch has inspired you to dust off the glue pot and search out the scissors!
