Font Fun Part 3.

Here I am as promised with the third and final layout I created for the friendly challenge between me and my friend Wendy.

The premise was to use up some of your pre-made lettering in a creative way. Now if you have been following the goings on you will know that my first attempt was a disaster that turned out well in the end. My second layout was then a bit tame on the creative font front but today's is somewhere in the middle!

I recently purchased two packets of these lettering but they are all loose and I keep them in a box all jumbled up. Therefore to find enough letters for what I need takes time and is very frustrating making me curse the day I bought them! I decided to use them up sooner rather than later!

This page was inspired by a layout by Jen Jeb.

Even with two packets of the letters there were still not enough E's for my design so some have been replaced with upside down 3's.

Fussy cut chevrons from some Fancy Pants paper.

I do so love creating little embellishment clusters and I used some of the leftover chevron paper to decorate this plain tag.

There we are then three pages done and a few more letters less in my stash!

Wendy has been posting all week long with her creative alpha use so it's well worth stopping by to see how she finds ways around running out of E's!

Font Fun Part 2.

After the trauma of my first attempt at a challenge by my friend Wendy  to use up some of our pre-made lettering I decided that page two of three should be a little less stressful! 

(The first can be seen here). 

So here is my second page and as you can see it's a lot less imaginative (but I didn't pull any of my hair out!). An older photo that I loved, showing the usual pose when my girls get together with their friends. All I used were American Crafts papers from different collections.

The most I did with these bigger letters was to colour them black as they were some really old Basic Grey letter stickers in a dappled purple (yuk!). I had run out of L's so the one here is the exclamation mark! Also the tiny T had to be a different colour as I had run out of blue ones.

This quote is from Marilyn Monroe and suits this photo perfectly.

A quick close up of my little embellishment cluster using quite a lot of girly bits and pieces!

Hope you liked this one, I know I was very conservative and I promise the third and final one is a little more creative!

Explore Together.

Excited today due to being asked to be Guest Designer over at XOXO Scrapbooking and the current challenge of a scraplift is what I was asked to create.

Here is the scraplift page created by DT member Kimmy.

Here is my page based on Kimmy's and as you can see I turned the design on it's side due to the orientation of my photo's. I used some beautiful MME papers that I don't know the line of as they were part of a swap with a friend.

You can see here the lovely subtle glitter on the flowers I fussy cut. The 'awesome' tab was cut on my Silhouette and colored with my watercolours to match the papers.

I also replaced the large chevron detail on Kimmy's page with some small chevrons in various colours.

The journal card used for the top cluster was cut in half so waste not, I used it at the bottom with the title, more chevrons and flowers. A scattering of some subtle pink sequins to finish.

Font Fun?

CAUTION RANT ALERT! 

read at your own risk!

Now when my friend Wendy suggested a font filled challenge to use up some of our pre-made letters, I thought 'great I can rid myself of old stash and make room for new'! 

Armed with some ideas I attended a weekend crop with the intention of making a dent in the stash of unloved letters. Well it was all down hill from there!!!!

I had the design in my head and I had the AC Thickers packet that had never been opened because the letters were LIME GREEN WITH BLACK CHEETAH PRINT! Whatever possessed me to buy them I don't know - they were obviously in a sale!

I started out with all the letters I needed laid out on some plastic. Out came the white acrylic paint, I then proceeded to cover them in not one but two coats of paint (one coat didn't cover them funnily enough!). 

Great, now all my letters were white, so I stuck them on my layout!

I then had a moment of complete insanity and decided that my layout needed a spritz  of colour! What-a-mistake-to-make! I HATED IT!!!!!!

Wendy's name was mud from that point on because the only way of recovering from this disaster was to remove all the letters and repaint them AGAIN! TWICE! Because of course one coat was not going to cover the bright red ink!

I think I eventually finished this layout about two in the afternoon from starting at 6pm the night before. 

The final piece of straw that broke Kerry the camels back was that by the time I got it home and the lettering had been moved about so many times.....yes you guessed it they all started falling off because the glue was no longer sticky! So I spent the evening glueing them all back on! 

Drum roll please.................

There you go, my worst nightmare of a page! I am actually pleased with it now that it's finished but I won't be painting letters again any time soon! You can see the spritzing under the letters that at one point covered them too. These are all the little nicknames I seem to call my sweet little cat Demi. As you can see I coloured her actual name black so it would stand out from all the others.

As with all pre-made packets of letters there are never enough E's so there are about 3 or 4 that are made up from other numbers or letters and also a T and F were also Frankenstein-ed! Though it's hardly noticeable under four coats of paint!

The rehashed black E was not so hard to cover as it wasn't until after that I realized I should have put aside  a good E at the beginning. But hindsight is a slippery so and so!

I found this little 'Hello, my name is' label and thought it was perfect for this page.

I could resist this little saying too, along with the essential fussy cut flowers!

I think I was traumatized by this first layout so the other two of mine are VERY TAME! I will share them with you when I get time to post them, hopefully in the next couple of days.

Good Times.

At last I have chance to share a layout with you that I created at last weekends crop!

This is actually the first page I started that weekend and it seems fitting that it's the first one that I get to share with you!

It was based on a Make It Monday sketch over at The Memory Nest.

Here is the Make It Monday sketch #33.

Here is my take on the sketch using the very last of a Pink Paisley line that I was determined to use up and if you could see the back you would see that I gutted the middle of the background paper so that I could turn it over and use the other side!! 

The photo is of my eldest daughter with her college pal gals down the pub!

These flowers and leaves were an assortment of punched, fussy cut and die-cut scraps! 

I do love the gold lettering that is so trendy at the moment, but as I am a frugal scrapper I die-cut mine from two different Sizzix die's!

These little circles are just punched from that gutted background paper and a splodge of gold 3D paint added to the middle.

Well there we are at last a layout that was made a week ago posted!

I hope I get chance tomorrow to post another.

Chasing My Tail Again!

Hi lovely crafty friends!

Again I am just rushing in to share a project before shooting off again to catch up on something else!

I have lots of layouts and challenges to blog about from my weekend crop last week but apparently there are more important things to be getting on with, according to my hubby!!!!!!

As this is a DT project for Sketch N Scrap  I get away with posting about it today!

Today we have the final sketch of this month to share with you and this super card sketch is courtesy of Lisa Hidy.

Here is my take on Lisa'a sketch and I actually made two of these cards, this one for my niece and the other with 20 on it for a friends daughter.

I don't often make shaker cards as I find them too fiddly but the sketch just called out to be made like that. 

I wasn't the only one who thought like that, few of us DT gals made shaker cards for this challenge! You can see the rest of the DT examples on the Sketch N Scrap blog HERE.

Demure Demi.

Time for the mid monthly layout sketch reveal at Sketch N Scrap and again I am a bit late posting my DT take on the sketch! 

Kelly has designed a super fun sketch for us to play with.

I had been waiting for the ideal sketch to scrap this photo of our cat Demi along with a PL card that was a great match for this photo!

I had decided to use up some of my old rub-on's so decorated this fussy cut heart with the words 'sugar and spice' and flower. i I scattered other flower rub-on's around the page embellishing some of them with punched circles from some scraps of paper.

I hand stitched the circles and splattered some watercolour paint on the background.

Cuteness Overload!

Twistback Thursday is Sketch N Scraps newest challenge that is in it's second month and this time it is Kelly's turn to challenge us with an old SNS sketch and give it a new twist! 

Here is the sketch Kelly chose for us and her twist challenge is to add a pet or animal. Could be in the photo or an animal embellishment. 

Here is my take on the sketch and of course I had no trouble finding a photo for the animal twist!

My design got changed a little due to the orientation of my photo's, the design went better with it mirrored and I replaced the largest paper with a rectangle of faux stitching. But other than that my page is an exact replica of the sketch!!!!!!!!

I am always forgetting I have these lovely card candi in my stash, luckily I came across them again whilst searching for some brads!

This little fella was a card topper that has been in my stash for donkey's years but was perfect addition for the papers and the cuteness overload!

# Selfies.

I am running in and posting this page really quickly as time is not something I have copious amounts of today but I have a layout I wanted to share with you and to enter into the Scrap Much Sketch-y Friday Challenge.

Here is the gorgeous sketch that I COULD NOT refuse to play with!

The only photo's I seem to get of my girls (and in this case their cousin) these days are ones taken off their phones! But hey it's better than none at all!! 

I played with American Crafts papers and had fun layering some strips to sit the photos on. I had to add some extra bits at the bottom of the page as the right corner looked like it was sent to Coventry! (an old English saying meaning to be ignored!)

I love to fussy cut and these flowers are a delight to attack with scissors!

You know those edges of pattern papers where part of an image is cut off  well they can be fussy cut too and partly tucked behind some paper layers so that it still looks like it a whole flower!

Back to reality now and I have run out of time so must dash!

Oar-Some Fun!

So many challenges, so little time!

I have a whole weekend crop booked for this coming weekend and I am hoping to get a fair few layouts completed for various challenges around blogland plus a few DT assignments too (just hope my mojo is on board with my plans!).

In the meantime I had a little play last night at Bradfield Craft Club and completed a couple of layouts, one of which was for Amanda's February Scraplift Challenge.

Here is the layout Amanda has challenged us to lift.

Here is my layout based on Amanda's original page. 

My photo's were already printed so although they are larger I made them work with the design.

The papers are old MME that I have been meaning to use up for ages, it's amazing how long old papers last when  you really want to buy new ones without feeling guilty about the mounting stash!!

Some fussy cut flowers tucked behind the photo's with a sprinkling of sequins.

I was having trouble finding a title for this page but luckily mum came to the rescue with this great play on words.

A few more of the fussy cut/ sequin embellies.

Sister Selfies.

I wanted to make a layout that incorporated some of my PL cards as I seem to have 'acquired' too many considering I don't actually do Project Life!

So when I saw the Scrap Much? colour challenge for this month I had a rummage through and found some girly ones that had all the colours on them!

They also have yellow on them so I hope that it's alright to have an extra colour?

Here is the yummy colour challenge palette!

And here is my layout which I managed to use four PL cards in a sort of grid design. The photo's are of course of my kiddie winks having fun with their phone taking silly selfie's!

I thought the PL cards needed jazzing up a bit so got out the gold glitter card!

Not too over the top with the glitter, just a quick and easy page!

There are plenty of challenges over at Scrap Much? every month - a colour, single sketch and a double sketch. So plenty of choice although I have challenged myself to complete them all this month as I have a weekend crop at the end of the week - Yahoo!

Happy Birthday.

I seem to be always chasing my tail these days and so here I am sharing the first Card Sketch at Sketch N Scrap a day late.

Kelly's card sketch is so pretty I made sure to go girly too.

Quite sedate in my colour choice for a change and lots of die cutting for the leaves and flowers!

The centre of the flowers have a 3D paint spot and the sentiment stamped onto a journal sticker. 

Quite a time consuming card and not my usual style but hey it's a spare for the card box!

My Sweet Girl.

I'm  late, I'm late, for a very important date! 

I've had one of those weekends that was too busy for my liking - I didn't get around to any crafting or blogging! 

So my reveal for Sketch N Scraps 1st February challenge is a day late - but you know how the saying goes..................better late than never!

So without further delay from me here is the Sketch Challenge, designed by super sweet Lisa Hidy.

And here is my layout based on the sketch, I wanted to use washi instead of strips of paper as I have a mounting stash of those little rolls of sticky goodness!

It stars my little kitty Demi, who loves to find a patch of sunshine and soak up that warmth on a winters day. 

One of my daughters had placed a tiny Santa's hat on her head whilst she was snoozing and we just managed to get a peeved looking photo before she swiped the hat off her head!

The circles and the word Sweet are cut several times in white using my Silhouette and just coloured according to my needs. 

The top corner was looking a tad bare so I opted for a co-ordinating banner from Erin Bradley.
